We are studying the preparation and use of color centers in diamond for imaging magnetic fields and temperature distributions with high temporal and spatial resolution. In collaboration with Mikael Backlund of the Chemistry Department, we are building a far-field quantum diamond microscope (QDM) in the laser and spectroscopy facility of the Materials Research Laboratory. Our initial application of the QDM is imaging of the domain structures of metallic antiferromagnets and magnetoelectric effects in two-dimensional materials.
