High energy density anode technologies (HEDAT)

In collaboration with Profs. Paul Braun, Jessica Krogstad, Nicola Perry, Nancy Sottos (MatSE), and  Elif Ertekin (MechSE), we are studying the thermodynamics and kinetics of ion transport and interface reactions in Li‐ion battery materials.  The goals of HEDAT are to discover, understand, and engineer new materials for anodes, cathodes, and solid electrolytes that take advantage of anodes with higher energy density than carbon. HEDAT is leveraging the extensive facilities for materials analysis in the Materials Research Laboratory; and more specialized facilities for optical metrology, electrochemistry, materials synthesis, and mechanical property measurements in the research groups of the PIs.
